Epson T580100 Compatible Photo Black Ink Cartridge Pigment
Although the instructions were a bit hard to understand (printed in very fine text on the side of the cartridge and the tiny photos not so clear) I was able to follow the steps and the cartridge worked perfectly upon the first attempt. The box comes with the cartridge and a chip shell module that must be used together with the original OEM chip from the cartridge. I used a box cutter to remove the original chip (the OEM cartridge has two small blobs of plastic that hold the chip in place so just slice those away gently and then use the blade edge to lift the OEM chip up.) Take that OEM chip and insert it into the side of the compatible cartridge - there is a slot that is not marked so clearly but use the included instructions to find it and note the contacts for the OEM chip have to face up, because the included chip shell module has prongs that must touch those contacts. Finally insert the chip shell module into the top part of the cartridge and press it into position - it has several prongs or leads that will make contact with the other OEM chip that you placed in the side of the compatible cartridge. I know it all sounds a bit complicated in words but really it's about 5 steps. I loaded the compatible cartridge (with the OEM chip and chip shell module in their proper positions) into the printer, the printer primed itself and accepted the compatible cartridge with no errors or complaints. The onboard printer control panel shows a full cartridge status and it prints normally. I wasn't able to tell the difference in the quality of the photos - they look great. To summarize, you just need to remove the OEM chip, insert it into the compatible cartridge, insert the chip shell module on top of it and press it into place, then load the cartridge into the printer. The printer will pierce the membrane that seals in the ink, prime the new compatible cartridge then show it as full.
A far more economical ink replacement cartridge for Epson 3880 printers provided you have a chip from an original cartridge of the same colour and you seat the original chip and the provided chip shell for a proper alignment (so that it is accepted by the printer). You may get a warning from the printer that it's not a genuine cartridge but depending on your firmware level, the printer allows you to bypass the warning.
great product have been using these ink for a few years fast delivery
Good quality. Works well on Epson 3880.
Un produit de qualité!
Although in the past I've had success with these cartridges, I'm finding that with recent software updates (as of 2020), my Epson 3880 now identifies these compatible cartridges with older OEM ink chips as 'Non Genuine' and although you can still accept the warnings, I've noticed the ink levels don't show any longer and on some cartridges (I've purchased entire sets of these compatible modules for my printer), the printer reports 'low ink' for a new, compatible cartridge. You can still print with these warnings (unless the chip shells included are defective, in which case the printer just won't accept the cartridge at all) but it is distracting to see low ink lights when cartridges are full. ShopperPlus has been responsive in these situations and has worked with me to arrive at a compromise but now I'm more wary of purchasing these cartridges. I've purchased OEM ink to restore my printer to normal ink response and I will try these compatible cartridges again in future (because they really are a lower cost alternative when they worked previously) with newer OEM chips to see if it improves the response I've experienced recently.
