Any vinyl cable protector like this one can be softened up quite easily with heat by gentle hair dryer type of heat gun or boiling hot water. If you have mounted it so that it cannot be flexed open then you would have to dismount it. Think ahead for such eventualities and plan accordingly. I have a similar one.

I haven't use this as yet but I will be putting them in the classrooms and across high traffic area. We will use them as soon as the construction is done.

hard to get cable in to it, wouldn't recommend it for cables that have to come in and out

They should come in white,and they dont stick to carpet or hardwood very well.OK if you have ceremic
