I have bought several of these (at least 7 or 8 over the years). They work pretty well out of the box, but lose some functionality over time. In particular, they normally tell you how much power is being used through the unit, but after about a year or two they tend to stop reading the current properly. They all still work to start and stop and for timers, etc., but some of them stopped reading the power consumption after a year or two. Still, good enough for most of my purposes and a very good price for what it does since most at similar or slightly higher prices do not read power consumption anyway.

nice little gadget, but i couldn't find any use of it other then control my lamp so i won't have to get up from the bed to close it at night. and i am thinking of buying another one for my xmas lighting as well since they don't have the on/off switch on them, so i won't have to keep plug and unplug them everyday. so in conclusion, this thing is good for 1: to turn off the device remotely 2: to add an on/off switch to your existing appliance that doesn't have one
