I wish I had known about this sooner. I had a dedicated drawer where all my sharp knives lived and had to be diligent not to cut myself when retrieving one. This keeps the blades down in place (which also maintains its sharpness) and I am able to have two levels of knives...my longer ones and my shorter ones fit between the handles of my longer knives so they too are protected.

Works as advertised. You will need to leave space for bigger knives.
