They are definitely slimmer and for indoor uses. Speed was measured compared to non-slim and there was a small drop on average - more testing is required but I like the slim factor for aesthetics.

Great first impression with rechargeable battery and lots of tools. The LED is definitely a cool feature to have when working with this rotary tool. I got this on Primecables birthday so the price was well worth it!
