I actually haven't used it for a black and white photo. Maybe it works with black areas in a color photo. Thats why I didn't give it a 5 star rating. I have bought many 74XL and 75XL cartridges from 123ink.ca for my other printer and over the past few years only had one that quite working while used very little.

I purchase this product because of its price. It is a good buy. Quality has been good and can get many sheets printed than from normal refill sizes. However, a couple of years back I had purchased a pair of the HP74 and 75XL from 123inkcartridges and one did not perform properly and had to remove it from my printer. I didn't report it because I had it on my shelf for a spare and didn\'t use it right away. overall, though, very satisfied with the product.

Product has worke fine. Did have one cartridge from a previous order just over a year ago and one of the cartridges failed to work. I did not return it account I had not installed in my printer for several months after purchase. Overall, your ink cartridges have work okay.
