Drywall screws are specifically designed to hang drywall on wood or steel framing. They have a sharp self-tapping tip and a bugle-shaped head, which allow for a quick installation without punching through the drywall paper cover.
Fine thread screws are used to hang drywall on light-gauge steel framing. for steel frames heavier than 20-gauge, a self-drilling Tek tip is necessary, to hang drywall on wood framings, Coarse thread screws is the one to use.
