This Rubber Splicing Tape is a high-insulating tape for splicing and terminating medium voltage cables. This self-amalgamating tape creates a secure, tight bond by fusing to itself. Highly conformable Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) backing will wrap tightly over most profiles, even irregular and awkward shapes. Tape can be stretched up to 200 percent to give void-free, moisture-resistant insulation. Physical and electrical properties are unaffected by the degree of stretch. The tape comes with a separator that is removed during the taping process. Its 0.8mm thickness and quick amalgamation facilitates a rapid, void free insulation build-up that is electrically stable and moisture proof.
1. Always apply a minimum of 2½ half-lapped layers to insulate electrical components.
What is a half-lapped layer? While a single layer technique aligns the edges of tape to create one single layer, a half-lapped layer technique overlaps the edge of tape at one-half the width to create a double layer.
2. Create effective electrical insulation by stretching tape between 75% of its width to just before the breaking point. This helps ensure proper adhesion to withstand elements and eliminate voids in critical areas of wiring.
These two steps for wrapping electrical tape will help create secure adhesion and provide effective electrical insulation.
