While this adapter does do it's job well once it has been assembled, assembly is the major downfall. After pushing the wires in, there is no going back, so make absolutely sure which pins need a connection. Trying to fit the unused and the used wires into the little box so i would recommend snipping the wires that you don't require. Snapping the DB9 connection into the plastic housing is another challenge, but once overcome, this product works very well to convert a connection from a scrolling LED sign into a serial connection without having to use the costly one from the manufacturer,

Used this in conjunction with a serial cable. Obtained pin-out from web. You push in the wires and you feel a click. Contacts worked perfectly.
