In my case I received a light light black compatible cartridge that already had a chip installed and did not require the OEM chip or chip shell so these comments may not apply depending on which version of the cartridge you receive but I've found that with recent software updates (as of 2020), my Epson 3880 now identifies this compatible cartridges as 'Non Genuine' and although you can still accept the warnings, I've noticed the ink levels don't show any longer and the printer reports 'low ink' for a new, compatible cartridge. You can still print with these warnings but it is distracting to see low ink lights when cartridges are full. ShopperPlus was very cooperative and offered a refund because the cartridges are sold as fully compatible and I did buy a previous version of this cartridge that the printer accepted without warnings so not sure why this experience was different. I've tried resetting my printer in various ways but it's not possible to revert firmware updates (I've now learned my lesson not to update firmware on printers if everything is working and you're planning to use compatible cartridges). I will try this cartridge again in future in the hope that it might work without these warnings as they are a great value compared to OEM but I think it's fair to note that your experience could vary.
