Connected Thinkpad to external AOC monitor by cable. Both are older equipment. No sign of life on AOC. Yikes!. Right clicked laptop screen. Selected “display settings”. “multiple displays” box at bottom at first showed no options to pick from. Did a bunch of and combo of … powered AOC off/on, disconnected/reconnected cable, powered down laptop and up. At first only got “Extend display” option, later got multi display options showing up to select from. All good now. Shipping cost more than the part. Ouch. But it arrived quick. Quality of cable good and price is right.

The one I received did not work (hence why only 4 maple leaf rating). Contacted support and they sent me a new one - excellent service! The new one works for 1080p applications on a 2012 non-retina MacBook Pro. Also supports 2048x1080. In case anybody is wondering this does NOT support 1440p (2560x1440) or 4K with this MacBook.
