Yes, exactly as described. I needed it actually for my Television that only has the new types of HDMI out ports for the new type of Surround Sound systems. Well this AMP I have is a old Yamaha with a vacuum tube so the sound is pure quality to the human ear, was expensive at the time, works just great, digital is just very close. I discovered a 3.5mm headset jack on the side of the 2012 modern TV. Then used the other end of the jacks to plug into my 1996 AMP. Presto! Works great! Saved me from buying a new AMP. So thank you so much, great idea for others trying to work things together and finding the same dead ends with new and much older technologies.

Use these through out the house and garage to listen to music off my phone. They seem to be great quality and will likely last a long time.

The build quality of this cable is very nice for the price. Audio quality appears to be very good. My only challenge is the cable doesn't want to stay in my Samsung S9. It seems to provide a loose fit, but I've customized how the phone sits to ensure it remains in place. Despite that, well worth the money.
