I placed a portable USB 3 drive in a fireproof safe close to my computer. I drilled a small hole in the bottom of this safe and with this extension the drive remains connected to my computer and automatic backups happen nightly. Although not stated the female end has a 5V power injection port which I needed to use to keep the drive working. A portable hard drive at the end of a 15 ft cable can not draw enough power from the host computer.

The product is great, performs as expected as a single five meter extension. This is not necessarily the case when you use two of these cables to extend to 10 meters, as it is claimed possible in the text describing the product. When used to tether a camera to a computer, conncting two of these cables end to end to extend your reach does not always work. There is sufficient signal loss to cause frequent breaks in the connection and loss of signal. The connection between the camera and the computer has then to be reestablished. Using a single 5 meter extension cable, along with the camera's dedicated USB cable, works fine.

Very pleased. I use it to extend my wireless network antenna to improve signal. Signal now approaches ethernet speeds. Cable speed is as advertised. Pricier than a "standard" extension cable but well worth it.

I was surprised it worked. I used this on a docking station that passes video, interest and a webcam on one USB 3.0 cable. A real test, and no problems.
