The brackets make installing wall plates so much easier. I created a template to mark where I need to cut out the wall. If you use the bracket it self, you will either mark the area to large or small depending on if you use the outside or inside on the bracket.

They work well. Not as common to need 2 gang low voltage, but I do like to use them on my home theater setups where many cables get tight on a single.
