Based on the photograph, I bought it on a clearance price intending to use it as a self-standing metal rod. I was surprised to find a functional lamp with a electrical cable, a light socket and an in-line rocker switch. However, the rocker switch broke apart easily after a few days' use. Now I have to decide whether to tape the rocker switch back together with electrical tape and use it as a lamp, or to take out the electrical parts all together and use it as a standing rod. I would need to buy a lamp shade for it if I want to do the former. ;-)
