    Surprisingly, seems to work. My phone usually says "charging slowly" on USB. But with this, it blocked data and turned to "charging". We measured the current with a device, it seemed to be about 1.2 amps off my computer. However one of my colleagues got a Windows error saying the usb port is malfunctioning and drawing too much power, after some time. Windows shut down the port and he had to reboot to restart it.

      does work, but not needed anymore with newer charging techniques.

        Seems to work as described, however I have not tried to compare it to a regular charger.
