i had to get this because i ruined the original, if you take this out of your printer, be verrrrrrrrrrry careful as to how you put it down, the drum is very exposed and can easily be damaged like i did to mine and it left marks on stuff i printed out. i have a brother printer also and the drum is very protected but i like my lexmark printer better so that is why i replaced the drum i ruined through carelessness
