You do need an existing recessed light fixture ("can") for this to fit into and grip the sides. So basically this is a LED lightbulb and recessed lighting cover in one unit (don't think the LED is replaceable tho).

Ordered two. Simple and easy to install. Adjustable screws. Works as expected. One of the unites only lasted a week, but Shopper+ immediately replaced it when I inquired about it. Just installed the replacement. I am happy at the moment.
