I have bought entirely too many of these, due to the fact that they are the most cost effective active adapters you can find that will work with Korean made 2560p IPS LCD displays such as Shimians and XCTs etc., of which I also have entirely too many of in the office. DVI-D is a dead form-factor sadly. On sale or with coupons you can get them cheaper here than directly from MonoPrice or that large website that has a 'river' theme ;). The maximum output is 60Hz, so the monitors I have setup at 75Hz profiles sadly are now hard limited. Sometimes you'll get a bit of shear or snow and will have to unplug and replug (maybe once every 3-4 months) to right it, but other than that I can't really think of any major drawbacks. Note that you cannot daisy chain them with any other dongles/adapters (like a powered HDMI) and then to the DP, or even from a miniDP to regular DP adapter.
