Great bag for the price, but definitely not waterproof. The front compartment, which my small umbrella could not cover, was exposed to typical Vancouver November rain for about 15 minutes. Everything inside was damp. The surface doesn't repel water the way the photo shows; the fabric definitely soaks up water quickly.
