could be a better tieing method

I finally assembled the product yesterday only to find out that I was sent a product that somebody must have returned. The one side of strings that keep hammock hanging must have been broken previously & tied together at 2 places. The knots are clearly visible. I'm circled those in photo. I'm sad that I was looking forward to using it but now I'm worried about safety of it.
