Had read the reviews and knew there could be a problem with the black cap. However my husband put one together with the black cap and we had to figure out how to dismantle it and remove the black cap for the hydraulic adjustment to work. He didn’t think the black cap was supposed to to come off as it was so securely mounted on the leg of the stool so he left it on. From reviewing videos on line we did dismantle the stool and taking the black cap off but it was very difficult and dangerous as you literally have to cut and pry it off and I got injured using a small exacto knife so be very careful removing it. Make sure you remove before putting it together to save you some extra work and much effort. Once the black cap is removed, we can say it was simple to put together and worked well. They look very modern and fit well in a small space such as a studio apartment.

Nice, smooth adjustable. Easy to set up. Good value for what you pay for it. A bit softer seat would be a good improvement, but I'm using it within my stand-up desk station and not sitting on it for hours on end--it's fine for that purpose.
