So I'm a rookie at DIY tech, I wasted 7 of the 10 rj45s I ordered trying to get them to crimp properly (because there aren't any instructions on how to use this style of rj45 ends with the inserts) and the website has the incorrect pictures on it - it shows a pass through style not the insert style. So now I have to re-order more ends to finish the job. Once I figured it out yes they do work well but it was frustrating....so some advice: 1) the inserts have a solid BOTTOM and a grooved/slotted top (make sure the slots face up toward the gold pins on the rj45) 2) Put the wire 'boot' on the wire before you put the individual wires through the insert (if you choose to use one) 3) the inserts have to go all the way to the inside end of the rj45 under where the pins are (slotted side up) ***put wires through the insert BEFORE putting insert into the rj45 3) once you have the wires in the correct order and pushed thru the insert, before putting insert and wires into the rj45 push the insert to the very end (edge) of all of the individual wires - if any wires are longer than the others trim them, or trim all of the wires along the edge of the insert using it as a cutting guide. 4) gently push the wires and the insert (grooves on insert up toward the gold pins) to the end of the rj45. 5) while keeping the wires and insert fully pushed to the end of the rj45 use a crimper to complete the connection. Reading these instructions would have saved me some grief....maybe prime cables can pay me for my PSA.....
