It is somewhat challenging to close the umbrella fully, as there is a great deal of resistance when pulling the rod inward (requires some strength and effort). This might not be best for a senior citizen or someone who doesn't have the strength to close the umbrella (like a small child).

The spring action to close and open the umbrella is convenient. A bit hard to handle, sometimes unable to re-open after opening and you must close it all the way.
