Actually works well on most jars but not all so don't expect it to be a miracle device. Sometimes has a hard time gripping since it's metal on metal. Would have been better if it had a rubberized gripping surface.

I tried using this on a jar lid that had been opened before. At present I didn't want to open another jar of pickles etc. It appears like it will work.
