The silicone on the front surface gives some stability and protection for the back of your devices. It may not be clear from the description, but there is a "button" in the middle which you press to adjust the height, and acts like a lock when you release it. While they put the silicone padding on the front "leg", they skimped out on doing the same for the back. It would have been minimal cost, and would have added to the stability, as well as protecting the surface of whatever you are standing this on. A very minor nitpick is that there are only 2 heights - you can't stop it at a height in between to the two settings, in case you need a specific height.

The perfect size for tablets and phones alike. Has a great non-slip part where the phone or tablet sits and has a good sized gap for the charging cord to fit at the bottom without bending the charging plug
