it's ok, the cable is too short and no warning bulb whether it is on or off

Using multiple computers it would only detect this as connecting to a USB 2.0 port. Even though none of the computers had USB 2.0 ports. Plugging in a different USB 3.0 device in the same port had no issues so it is definitely the device. Computers were Windows 10 on a Surface Pro 3 and 7.
