This stand is a beast and a lot more robust than what is advertised. There are some plastic parts but overall very sturdy and well built. I seemed to have received a larger model as well which fit my 17" laptop that I was not expecting. The platform is actually 16"x11" and not 12.4"x11". There is also a pin chained to pole to secure the position.

Solid and sturdy. The adjustable top can be tilted. I use it as another small, high table or even a music stand.
