The cover stopped opening by itself after one week but it will close by itself. Since I live with a creative inventor, he screwed on a popsicle stick (see photo) and with a gentle slight lift of a finger, the lid will lift and then close on its own. For how long? Who knows? He checked the battery and noticed it has expired in June 2021 (we are December 2022) but he checked it and said it was perfectly fine, full, so the battery did not seem to be defective. Nice looking garbage pail, too bad it doesn’t work as advertised. At least we found a compromise solution.

Got it with a deep discount which made it by far the cheapest smart trash can on the market. Considering this, I'm surprised with my initial findings. It's great looking and the sensors are working perfectly for me so far. I have only 2 concerns: 1. Size is great for my bathroom, where I am using it, but a larger volume design would be appreciated. 2. I have read what others have said about battery life and am concerned. I am using rechargeable batteries and hope a full charge will last at least a month with average use? If I'm happy with this little guy long term, I will most likely buy a couple more. So far, so good!

After 2 weeks the lid stopped opening and the only way to use it is to pry open the lid. Was kinda fun but for the hassles of charging it and waving over the top to open it really not a useful buy.
