15 in1 Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station 85W PD Resolution up to 8K/30Hz + 4K/30Hz - Primecables®
I didn't get to try out every feature, but this is why I give this unit a perfect 5/5 stars: The good: 1. Displayed 2 displays at 4k60 simultaneously (tested with Dell XPS 15 9500, Dell XPS 13 9350 and HP Elitebook 640 G9). 2. Lots of ports 3. Connected to PCs via Thunderbolt mode (vs simple USB-C mode) without a hitch (whereas others have not been so straightforward). 4. Nice understated design. Can be used vertically or horizontally. The bad: A. The dock-to-host cable is SHORT. If you want to use the dock for 2 different laptops and their TB ports are on opposite sides (e.g. one Dell XPS and one HP Elitebook), then you will probably have to position the dock directly behind the PCs where access to the ports on the dock may not be so easy and convenient. B. Product is EOL. Other: i. For the display output, use either a proper DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable or a USB-C to DisplayPort cable. DP to HDMI will not work. ii. Fingers crossed and hope it lasts!
This dock is amazing. I'm using it with a MacBook Pro 14" (M1 Pro) and I'm able to drive one monitor with the DisplayPort and another through a USB-C to HDMI adapter (not included with this purchase) using the USB-C port on the back. The number of ports on this dock make it the ultimate companion for my MacBook Pro. I have a webcam (Opal C1), ethernet cable, two displays, audio interface and SSD connected to it at all times and it works without a hitch (all going through one Thunderbolt 3 cable running from the dock to my MacBook Pro!). Another great feature is the power button which allows you to connect and disconnect (remove peripherals and power) from the dock easily. I just have to press a single button to stop charging my Mac and remove peripherals (overnight) allowing me to leave the cable in place and not have to unplug it each night (I do this so the MacBook isn’t plugged into AC power all the time, which could degrade the battery). I’m surprised I hadn’t come across this dock before, forum posts usually mention other big name brands. I got this dock on sale which sweetens the deal but I would’ve been willing to pay MSRP! If I had to knock off anything from my rating of this product, it would be that the supplied Thunderbolt 3 cable is a bit short. This is understandable given that these cables are typically more expensive than regular USB-C cables. I had a longer Thunderbolt 4 cable (backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 3) and it worked perfectly. The 85W power delivery is very nice, many docks only go up to 60W in this price range. I’m hoping this lasts for a while as my main MacBook Pro dock! Also hope to see PrimeCables developing more docks (Thunderbolt 4?) in the future!
Works perfectly, all functions tested OK but haven’t tried multiple monitors. Supports 4K@60Hz which is all I needed.
Using this with an M1 MacMini and really like having all the extra ports readily available on my desk. This was the most affordable _real_ TB dock (not a USB C dock) I could find. Look forward to the day when when I have multiple TB computers and can just plug this dock in to one or another and not have to recable every connection. Came with a 19 inch TB3 cable which I wasn't expecting, but appreciated to receive. Power brick is larger and heavier than any of my laptop ones. The only nit-picky complaint I've had so far is with the Optical Toslink: it won't do 5.1. Stuck with 2CH PCM, can't get Dolby Digital or DTS to go out via bitstream. To be fair, I've only tried this on Mac (and I've had issues getting other hardware doing this that work on PC): assume it's using a cheap USB based DAC internally. I've got an old speaker setup that rely on compressed audio for multi channel so this won't be an issue for most. The last thing I wanted to mention is that people claim TB3 speeds are 40 Gbps - that's not functionally true for a device. There's 8 Gbps dedicated to DisplayPort leaving 32 Gbps for data. So with the way data is packed, even with the fastest NVME (wish that had an internal NVME slot!): your max speed is going to be ~3 GB / sec. That's a limitation of the TB3 standard, not this device. If you need a TB dock, this is great and the best one I could find in price / performance ratio.
So far works perfectly as it should. Using with HP Probook 650 G8 only need to plug in the USB C power cord and everything is ready to go! Only thing I wish it had a couple more ports/other options for connecting displays. Mine only have HDMI and I wanted to connect two so I did have to use an adapter to connect my screens (USB split to 2 HDMI ports) not a huge deal though since it's plugged in and just stays now but it would have been nice to be able to do it without extra adapters. Can't complain too much though great price compared to other docking stations!
would be perfect if it had an HDMI port, or if HDMI to USB-C worked (it does not). otherwise pretty good, works well with my 2021 MBP
