    It simply did not work, i.e. it did not work when I connected my old style (PS/2) mouse to a USB port on my laptop. So, I just wasted my money.

      This does not work at all, therefore bought the "USB to PS/2 Dual PS2 Converter Adapter - Monoprice" which works.
