This is a fantastic way to carry your camera. On a hiking trip with my family in Canmore, BC being able to hook my camera on my backpack allowed me to help my kids around steep inclines without having to put it on the ground or store it. It beats having the camera around your neck or across your shoulder as it's not flopping around.
