I initially thought the device was malfunctioning when I plugged it into my work laptop with the goal to connect an HDMI cable into the hub and extend my display to include my monitor. It didn't work. But I tried the same process with my personal computer and it did work! Turns out not all USB-C ports are created equal and my work laptop has not enabled video out functionality via USB-C. Be sure to check the hub out on different computers / USB-C ports before concluding this hub might be defective. Happy with the product overall! Light weight and works plug and play, so it's simple to use.

I have purchased this item several times before. I work in a school and it meets the demands of this environment. The only item of note is the aluminum casing heats up when using in a robust manner. Not too hot to touch but definitely warm enough to mention.

Unfortunately, the HDMI port does not work at all, rendering this entirely useless. I was ready to like it but it doesn't work and since I purchased it on clearance it is not eligible for a return. I guess caveat emptor applies here.
